Just as no two humans have the same fingerprints, no two giraffes have the same pattern of spots.

Rusted Lock on Flickr. This has to be one of my favourite photos from Ibiza. Not all travel photos are about scenery. This close up reminds me of my mini adventure exploring the Old Town. The intense colour caught my eye. Looking through the keyhole. What is on the other side? A mystery.

Ibiza, Old Town, Dalt Vila on Flickr.Wandering around the Old Town of Ibiza. This building stood out. Bold yellow windows and green shutters set into the white washed wall. The combinations of these colours are intense and full of vibrancy.

The Sunrise

Have you ever seen the sunrise?

I am not an early bird, I’m more of a night owl. Getting up early is sometimes a struggle for me. I do prefer to have a nice long lie in. So, getting up really early to see the sunrise. Mmm, doesn’t happen often.

My first attempt to see a sunrise was a fail! The night before we saw an amazing sunset over the Sahara.

Night settled in and the clear sky meant we saw millions of stars, moving satellites, a shooting star (my first, seeing it from the corner of my eye) and a Chesire Cat smiling moon. Alas, the winds blew overnight whilst we slept, it swept in the clouds. Rise and shine for a 6:30 sunrise. No shine, no sun, just clouds.

My next attempt was definitely more successful. This time I didn’t even have to wake up early for it. We partied till late in Ibiza. Then the guys suggested seeing the sunrise. The night before I really wanted to see the sunset at Café del Mar, but that didn’t happen as we would need to be on the other side of the island. I was definitely up for it, although I was super tired. I am very glad I went.

The whole experience was amazing.

We waited from dawn, twilight to sunrise.

Patiently we waited.

Ibizan Sunrise

The sun rose slowly above Ibiza town.

The warm colours of the sun seeped into the lightly clouded sky. Stunning. Absolutely beautiful.

Gazing into sea, breathing in the fresh morning breeze.

We watched a walker take a early morning dip.

The beach is peaceful.
Time to go and have a short nap before flight home.

As Playa D’en Bossa, the beach we were at was south facing, we saw the sunrise coming over Dalt Vila (Ibiza Old Town). Next time, I would love to see the sunrise from the horizon.

Things to do - find a good east facing location for a spectacular sunrise.
